Blessings for Chapter Ten

pobble_readsMy first Blessing is for Johnnie Tar, who first noticed Gobbolino’s skill as a mouser and thought to bring him aboard the Mary Maud and giving him a home and a role in the shipboard community. For everyone who notices hidden skills and for anyone who brings people together and builds community. May they also have their work recognised and appreciated, and may they be able to build strong and nourishing networks and communities.
I also want to Bless the Captain even though I am disappointed that he doesn’t stand up for Gobbolino and make a rousing Captain Picard type speech that inspires the rest of the crew to actually ask Gobbolino about what he was saying to the Sea Witch and to balance their fear with theIr previous knowledge of Gobbolino’s character and actually thank him for saving them! Sometimes when we are dealing with people the perfect solution is impossible and I admire the Captain for coming to talk to Gobbolino himself, being kind and gentle with him and personally rowing him safely ashore. So a Blessing for him and all leaders doing their best to be kind and take responsibility in less than perfect situations. May they be strengthened in doing the best possible thing in those circumstances and may they be gifted with compassion and thoughtfulness.
